Dr. Mitali Dandekar- Lall presented the landmark paper published in the New England Journal of Medicine 2015 “ Elective versus Therapeutic neck dissection in node negative oral cancer”. Dr. Dandekar was actively involved in the conduct of this large randomized controlled trial comprising of over 500 patients. Additionally she was involved in the analysis of data. She co authored this publication with the lead investigator Dr. Anil Dcruz and the team of Head Neck Services at the Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai. This is a practice changing paper which has put to rest a long standing contentious debate in surgical management of early oral cancers.

The paper presentation stimulated a healthy discussion and was appreciated by all.
