Cochlear Implant
Damage to the inner ear with its nerve endings can occur due to several reasons from birth defects to infection to exposure to ototoxic ( harmful to the ear) substances. Unfortunately, most of these problems occur in young children in whom speech development is not complete. As one knows hearing is an integral part of speech development ( a child speaks what he /she hears), this condition requires correction with a ear surgery by which an implant is inserted into the ear which starts functioning as the inner ear. This surgery for hearing is a life changing experience if done appropriately, at the right time and followed up comprehensive rehabilitation sessions Dr Abhineet Lall has been trained under Padmashri (Dr.) MV Kirtane who is a pioneer in cochlear implant surgeries. His team comprises of fully trained and experienced audiologists and speech therapists to care for the post surgical hearing rehabilitation.
